The theme "Virtual Workyards" came about as the result of the actual
exhibition at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art which is on display
through August of 2001. That show, which includes analog art forms
of all kinds from paintings to prints, sculptures to books, collages and
installations, covers a period of about thirty years. It was called
"Open Workyards" based on a remark quoted to the curator about different
series of works being like workyards that could be returned to at any
point in time for further exploration. I had heard the phrase originally
from another multi-disciplinary artist, Bertrand Lavier.
The virtual workyards represented here include digital work in the fields
of animation, type design, interactive programs, prints and books,
installations and other related projects. The exhibition includes work
produced roughly from 1988 to the present.
The earliest work in the exhibition was produced in Hypercard. You must
have a copy of Hypercard or the Hypercard player to view that portfolio.
