We are still thinking through the implications of the conference-bopping grad-students looking-for-jobs phenomenon we experienced at Duke's "Assault Conference", especially those grad-students who make the Politically Correct charge of disenfranchisement and go out of their way to intellectually assault writers and artists who, without even thinking about it, assault mainstream P.C. attitude by expressing themselves whole-heartedly without putting on the self-censoring blinkers. Kathy Acker was forced to say to one of her badgering questioners: "But don't you see, we're both right." Then, after a pause: "Our pleasure is not P.C."
Silence of the lambs.
